Attendance
Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent.
You can phone the office, email me or use our school app.

Please notify the school every day your child is away. If your child is going to be absent for any reason other than illness, please inform the school in advance, where possible, of the dates they will be away.

Please, please, please, make sure that the office has up-to-date contact information and details of any medical concerns that we need to be aware of.

There is a sign in/sign out tablet at the office. This is for visitors (including parent help) and for students leaving school early.

Out of School Care
I am unable to look after kids outside of school hours.  Maryanne Roling runs a before school programme 7.30-8.30am and also runs an after school care at Glenholme School 3pm-5.30pm. You can contact her by calling 3470709 or 0211215599.

Our Golden Rules
  • We are gentle
  • We are kind and helpful
  • We work hard
  • We look after property
  • We listen
  • We are honest
The school operates Golden Time on Friday afternoons as part of the Behaviour Management Plan. Classes get to select an activity that they wish to do during this time. Children who misbehave in class or in the playground may lose some of or all of their Golden Time.

Lost Property
Please, clearly name every item that comes to school with your child. If the child is wearing an older siblings or a second hand uniform then please rename it. It can be very time consuming for the teachers to sort through incorrectly named items of uniform.
If a child cannot find an item, they will be encouraged to look in the school lost property box.
School Lost Property Box - This is situated outside Room 5.
Lunches
Most students bring their lunch from home. Please ensure that you provide a healthy lunch for your child. There are drink fountains at school but some children like to also bring a drink bottle. I am happy for the children to keep their drink bottle with them during class time - water only.  Tip: keep water cool by filling a drink bottle to 1/4 or 1/3 with water and freezing overnight. Top it up in the morning and it will keep the drink cool. If you freeze the whole bottle there is very little to drink before lunchtime.
The PTA run a sausage sizzle on a Friday. Orders are placed in the classroom at the start of the day. Sausage and bread is $1.50 and a Juicie is $1.50.  Currently the only option for lunch purchases is through Pita Pit

Milk in Schools

Students are provided with Milk daily as part of the Milk in Schools programme. Please let me know if you do not wish your child to be given milk.

Uniform
At St Mary’s all students are expected to wear the school uniform with pride.

We currently have a Uniform shop at school, located in the Hall Foyer and run by volunteer parents, which is open on a Monday and Friday from 8.30 - 9am and on a Wednesday from 2.30 - 3pm.

Sunhats are a must.  Children are not permitted to play on the field without a sunhat.

Swimming
We have swimming in odd weeks.  I'm actually pretty good at teaching swimming - but I can't do it when a kid is on dry land.  Bring your togs.
